Designing eco-friendly food packaging
For many years, Sipaldis, your food packaging supplier, has been committed to an eco-responsible approach. Our aim is to develop food packaging concepts that respect nature. Our baking molds, whether made of paper, cardboard or wood, are on the rise in all sectors. Quite simply, it reflects our customers' satisfaction and their willingness to work with eco-designed products. In addition to designing packaging in recyclable materials, our aim is to offer a wider range of biodegradable and even compostable products whenever possible. This commitment will be our guiding principle for years to come.
Recycling elements: legislation still unclear
A large number of food packaging products are coming onto the market, most of them recyclable and in line with consumer expectations. However, it has to be said that some of them do not display recyclability information on the back of the packaging. For the time being, legislation does not require all product logos to be displayed. Since January 2015, only the Triman logo has been mandatory for all French manufacturers of recyclable products. Pending standardization of instructions, each manufacturer is free to specify these elements or not on food packaging.
As a supplier of food packaging, Sipaldis makes a point of ensuring that each new development includes these sorting instructions on the packaging. We owe it to consumers to make it easier for them to learn the simple gestures of recycling.
OpinionWay survey, November 19, 2020
We were recently struck by a study byOpinionWay survey carried out for Alkemicsentitled "The French and waste sorting". It shows that the French do not have the necessary knowledge to interpret the instructions on food packaging. The analysis shows that 70% of French people do not understand these sorting instructions. It also shows that only two of the sixteen logos tested with the French are correctly identified and deciphered. This shows that there is still a long way to go before everyone can acquire the basics of successful selective sorting.
The OpinionWay study also shows that what counts for 57% of French people is above all recyclable packaging. Biodegradability comes in second place.

The environmental aspect is a key point in the development of every product designed by Sipaldis. As a supplier of food packaging, we are committed to marketing food packaging with a common denominator: recyclability. Our pastry boxes all feature the recyclability logo on the back of the box. Our gold/black cardboard rounds, meanwhile, have the food contact logo right on the cardboard. Our new eco-designed product, the wood-printed cardboard tray, is our best example. This tray has all the necessary elements on the back: Tidyman, Green Dot, Möbius Circle, Triman, Food Contact and the product composition logo.
This environmentally-friendly product is designed to replace expanded polystyrene trays, which will soon be banned by law. Our cardboard tray will eventually make it possible to drastically reduce the plastic used for EPS trays.
